Romanian capital mayor asks bread producers to lay in stocks for bad weather The Bucharest mayor Sorin Oprescu advised bread producers to lay in stocks preparing for the bad weather, as Romania has been placed under a Yellow Code for blizzards and ice until Sunday, February 5, at 20:00. Oprescu also asked Bucharest inhabitants to refrain from driving at night, allowing snow ploughs to work, and said that areas around bread factories and large boulevards will have priority in the snow removal activity. The Romanian capital city will be served by 2,700 workers and 615 equipments, once the bad weather kicks in. The municipality is ready to double the number of equipments, in case it snows heavily.

Romania was already under an Orange Code for low temperatures, with the lowest so far reaching minus 30°C. The Black Sea and the Danube have frozen. Some highways and roads in the country have been closed, while several train routes have been canceled.
