Romanian capital’s dwellers wake up earlier than other Europeans
Three-quarters of Bucharest’s inhabitants wake up before 7:00 and 94% wake up before 9:00, according to a survey by Swedish furniture retailer IKEA. Romanian capital’s citizens get up earlier than those in other European capitals where IKEA conducted the same study.
However, waking up early is not easy. More than two-thirds of Bucharesters hit the snooze button of their morning alarms at least once, and nine in ten are stressed that they might not hear the alarm.
Once they wake up, they have in average 1 hour and 21 minutes until they leave home. How do they spend it?
The study shows that Bucharest dwellers spend about 20 minutes to get ready for work, of which 13 minutes to groom themselves and 6 minutes to choose what to wear. It takes longer for women, as they also have to do their hair and put on makeup. Yet, men are more confident when leaving the house (84%) than women are (74%).
More than half of the people who answered in IKEA’s survey think it’s important to take a few minutes to meditate in the morning, but only 15% actually do this. About 80% think having breakfast is important for health, still only 51% do it.
More than 8 in 10 think that it’s important to hug and kiss their children in the morning or to play with them. However, only 41% hug their kids, and only 9% get the time to play.
More than 1,000 people, ages 18 to 60 answered in this survey, which IKEA conducted online, in October 2014.
