Romanian car market, among the biggest drops on new car registrations

The Romanian car market saw the third biggest decline in the European Union, with a drop of 41.5 percent on new car registrations in the first half of the year. The number of new car registration actually increase by 0.2 percent on an average during this interval in the EU. The situation in Romania was only worse than in Bulgaria and Hungary, which dropped by 43.1 and 43.8 percent respectively.

There were 36,600 new car registered in the first six months of the year in Romania, compared to 52,600 in the same period of last year, according to data from the Association of European Carmakers.

Portugal was the EU country with the highest increase in new car registration: up 57.7 percent, to 115,000 units.

In terms of volume, the biggest car market in the Eu was Germany, with 1.4 million new car registrations in the first six months of the year.

Dacia ranks in the top of brands sold in the EU, ranking fifth. Land Rover ranks first, followed by Nissan and Renault on the fourth position.
