Carmina Dragomir has been appointed CEO of insurer Metropolitan Life in Romania. She is taking over from Emilia Bunea, who led the local operations for the past three years.

Dragomir is coming from MetLife Italia, where she was a Deputy CEO and Chief Operations Officer (COO) for the past three years. She will be reporting to Dirk Ostjin, the regional head of MetLife for Central and Western Europe. She has been working for Metropolitan Life since 2003, including in Romania, where she served as the company’s COO.

“It is a real opportunity to return to what I consider to be one of the markets with one of the fastest development in the region. I think Metropolitan can play an essential role in shaping the future of the Romanian insurance market and I am honored to lead a team made up of some of the best professionals in the field,” Dragomir commented.

Metropolitan Life has been present in Romania in the life insurance segment for more than 17 years. It has 2 million local clients for its life insurance and compulsory private pension products. The company has 170 employees and 500 agents.
