A Romanian chef who has completed a two-day Indonesian food course has won the the first prize in the Indonesian food cooking contest recently held at the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest. Maria Moja, the Romanian chef who has won the contest, who works at Continental in Sinaia, has learned to cook dishes such as buntut (oxtail soup), empal gepuk, gado-gado (in picture) Betawi, and ayam rica-rica (rica-rica chicken). Fourteen Romanian chefs, ranging from chefs from various hotels and restaurants to fresh graduates, competed in the 2-days Indonesian culinary course and cooking competition, 9-10 August, 2010. The embassy exclusively invited Nur Komariah, a senior instructor from STP Bandung who specializes in Indonesian, European, and Japanese cuisines and has been in the culinary industry for more than twenty years. “In addition to promoting the richness of Indonesian culinary, this activity is also intended to exhibit the Indonesian human resource’s professionalism in the field of hospitality services,” said the Indonesian Ambassador to Romania, Marianna Sutadi, in her opening address.
