Romanian classifieds website Mercador.ro, part of the Allegro group, has been re-branded as olx.ro, a brand which has been present worldwide in 107 countries.

The site will continue to offer classifieds for free, and all user accounts from Mercador.ro will be kept under the new site.

OLX is an online platform held by Naspers, which includes Allegro. It has 100 million unique users a month.

The Romanian site currently has over 2 million classifieds. End 2013, it reached 1.6 million classifieds, up 130 percent on 2012.

OLX was founded in March 2006 by Internet entrepreneurs Fabrice Grinda and Alec Oxenford. And is held by Naspers. Allegro Group, whose parent company is Naspers, also runs several other sites in Romania, including Autovit.ro, Compari.ro and Fashion Days.

Alegro Group started activity in 1999 in Poland, and entered the Romanian market in 2007.
