Romanian comedy “Hello, how are you?” hits the screens from March 4
A new Romanian movie production, the comedy “Hello, how are you?” is set to be released on March 4 in cinemas across the country, according to production representatives. U. S. publication Variety wrote that the movie was “a breath of fresh air”, in the context of rather bleak local films. In the first week since its premiere, the film will run in the cinema halls in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Brasov, and then in Craiova, Bacau, Timisoara, Constanta, Piatra Neamt, Targu Mures and Oradea.
“Alexandru Maftei’s bittersweet romantic comedy demonstrates that even more commercial films can cause emotional revelations. Told in a spiritual and stylish manner, the story of a couple married for 20 years who have lost interest in each other, becoming vulnerable to the charms of the internet chat is extremely suited for a remake”, wrote Variety. Alissa Simon, the author of the article, highlighted, among other things, the charming screenplay written by Lia Bugnar and that “Hello, how are you?” is the first Romanian romantic comedy since 1990.
Last year, the film was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Transylvania International Film Festival-TIFF. The movie was also screened in Cairo in the fall of 2010 and arrived on U. S. soil earlier this year at Palm Springs Festival selection.
