Romanian company digitizes public transport in Bulgarian city

Romanian company UTI has recently signed a EUR 9 million contract to digitize the public transport system management in Burgas, Bulgaria.

This involves an integrated ticket system, passenger information and video surveillance, the company announced.

The project, which UTI won through a public tender, is due by the spring of 2016. The money for the contract come from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the local budget and the EBRD.

The public transport in Burgasbus currently works with paper tickets and monthly or weekly passes.

In December last year, UTI won a EUR 6.6 million contract to digitize the public transport system in Brasov, central Romania.
