Romanian Dacia expects lower production, after Sandero manufacturing moves to Morocco
Romanian carmaker Dacia estimates a decrease in production of 20,000 - 30,000 cars in 2014 compared to the previous year, due to moving part of Sandero production to the Renault plant in Morocco.
After the record of almost 343,000 cars produced in 2013, Dacia estimates a production of 310,000 - 320,000 units this year, according to Nicolas Maure, general manager of Dacia, cited by local Agerpres.
He said the production in 2014 will be influenced by market developments, marked by a great competition, both in terms of competitors as well as the internal competition within the Renault group, with the plant in Morocco.
The Dacia plant in Mioveni, near Pitesti, Romania, produces Logan, Logan MCV, Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Duster and Renault Symbol models, while the plant in Morocco produces Sandero, Dokker, Dokker Van and Lodgy.
