Romanian Deputy PM: Over 70 sanctions and 55 offenses during European Parliament elections campaign
A total of 78 sanctions for violating the law and 55 offenses were registered in Romania during the campaign for the European Parliament elections, according to Deputy Prime Minister Gabriel Oprea, Minister of the Interior.
“There were 909 public events across Romania in the four-week election campaign. Referring to the electoral incidents, none were reported in seven counties. In the remaining 34 counties plus Bucharest, 179 incidents were reported, or five incidents per county, on average,” said Oprea, cited by local Agerpres.
Fines of RON 43,500 (over EUR 9,800) were also applied during this period. Romania will elect its representatives in the European Parliament this Sunday, May 25.
