Romanian director Adrian Sitaru’s latest film selected for this year’s Berlinale Forum section
Romanian film Ilegitim / Illegitimate, directed by Adrian Sitaru, will have its world premiere at the 66th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), which takes place in February.
The film was selected in the Forum section of the event, which will show a total of 44 films in its main program, 34 of which are world premieres.
Ilegitim tells the story of two brothers and their illegitimate love. It is about a father who is a doctor, several complaints, and a family where the boundary between legal and moral have never existed.
“Ilegitim is a movie that combines humor and drama in a tragicomedy about love (conjugal, fraternal, physical), about the end of relations, for or against life choices, and about the physical love between two brothers, a taboo topic which is very little discussed but included in numerous specialized researches,” said Adrian Sitaru.
The cast includes Adrian Titieni, Bogdan Albulescu, Alina Grigore, and non-professional actors from the InLight – Robi Urs acting school.
Ilegitim is the fourth feature film of Adrian Sitaru after Pescuit Sportiv / Sport Fishing (2008), Din dragoste cu cele mai bune intentii / Best intentions (2011), and Domestic (2012), productions that have won major awards at prestigious festivals. Sitaru also directed some of the most awarded Romanian short films such as Valuri / Waves, Lord, and Colivia / The Cage.
This year’s edition of the Berlinale film festival will take place between February 11 and February 21.
Romanian’s film about how Dallas changed her life premieres at this year’s Berlinale.
