Romanian director Paul Negoescu lands EUR 10,000 financing for his second film at Sofia Meetings
A film directed by Romanian Paul Negoescu is among the winners of the Sofia Meetings financing programs for cinema. Negoescu landed EUR 10,000 in financing from Hungarian Filmlab for his project Never Let It Go.
The Romanian received the prize after competing in a section dedicated to directors at their second feature – length film. Negoescu, who won the Sofia film festival critics award in 2013 for A Month in Thailand, his debut film [trailer below], will use the funds to finance post-production of his second film.
Another Romanian film maker, Radu Jude, also attended the financing competition, but did not land any prize.
Sofia Meetings, at its 11th edition, took place between March 13 and 16 in the Bulgarian capital. The event was supported by the Media Programme of the European Union and Bulgarian National Film Center. The event includes project presentations of upcoming directors' first, second and third movies.
Other Romanians landed financing at this event in the past, including the multi – awarded The Death of Mr. Lazarescu by Cristi Puiu, Medal of Honor by Calin Peter Netzer, Everybody In Our Family by Radu Jude, and For Love With Best Intentions by Adrian Sitaru.
