Romanian drug store network Sensiblu sees four times higher profit
Romanian pharmacy chain Sensiblu reduced its turnover to EUR 261 million last year from EUR 276 million in 2014.
However, the company’s net profit amounted to over EUR 6.9 million in 2015, almost four times higher than in 2014, when Sensiblu had a net profit of EUR 1.4 million after after two consecutive years of losses.
In 2013, the pharmacy chain’s net losses dropped to EUR 8.6 million from EUR 14 million in 2012.
In 2015, Sensiblu entered the low-cost pharmacy segment by opening the Punkt pharmacies.
Sensiblu is part of A&D Pharma, the largest pharmaceutical group in Romania. The group also includes drug distributor Mediplus, the biggest in the local market. Mediplus had a turnover of EUR 647 million last year, up by 6.3% compared to 2014, and a net profit of EUR 19.5 million, double compared to the previous year.
