Romanian electricity producer Nuclearelectrica ups turnover in first nine months

Romania’s electricity producer Nuclearelectrica recorded a turnover of some EUR 323 million (RON 1.42 billion) in the first nine months of the year, up 19 percent year-on-year, and a net profit of EUR 75 million (RON 331 million), from loss in the same period of 2012.

The company’s total revenues also increased by 21 percent between January-September this year, to some EUR 375 million (RON 1.65 billion), while total expenses dropped to around EUR 284 million (RON 1.2 billion).

In the first nine months of the year, the two units of CNE Cernavoda produced a volume of electricity of 8.6 million MWh, according to the company’s report.

The company sold 10 percent of its shares in September through an IPO, for roughly EUR 63 million (RON 282 million).

Nuclearelectrica runs the Cernavoda nuclear power plant, which produces around 20 percent of Romania’s energy. The Romanian state is the major shareholder of the company.
