Romanian Elizabeta Samara wins gold at the European table tennis championships
Romanian table tennis player Elizabeta Samara won on Sunday, October 4, the gold medal in women’s singles final at the European Championships in Ekaterinburg, Russia. She beat LI Jie of Netherlands 4:3 (11:6, 9:11, 3:11, 11:7, 12:14, 11:4, 11:4).
The two previously met in 2010, 2011 and 2014, and the Dutch player won every time.
Samara also won silver in the women’s doubles on the same day, alongside Hungarian Georgina Pota. The two lost the final to Turkey’s Melek Hu and Spain’s Yanfei Shen 4:1 (11:4, 11:7, 11:9, 13:11, 4:11).
The Romanian also won silver in the team event.
