Romanian emergency situations authorities invest EUR 35 mln in equipment
Romania’s General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) wants to invest EUR 35 million in a project for urban search and rescue, said Raed Arafat, state secretary at the Interior Ministry.
The project will better equip the ISU teams, and will be financed with EU funds. The authorities could make the first acquisitions this year, said Arafat.
IGSU will equip its units with very high capacity generators, which can be used in case of calamities, large trucks, and cranes. The authorities have already signed a EUR 25 million contract for equipping its teams for interventions during floods.
