Romanian employees work the most in the EU

17 July 2015

Romanian full time employees worked the most hours of all the employees in the European Union, some 41 hours a week, on average, according to a report by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound).

The Romanians were closely followed by employees in Luxembourg, Great Britain, Portugal, Germany and Poland, who also worked over 40 hours a week, reports local Wall-street.ro. At the other end, employees in Finland and France worked on average only 37.3 hours per week last year.

Given the difference, during one year, a French employee spent four weeks less at work than a Romanian.

The statistic only includes the hours spent at the primary work place, excluding second or part-time jobs. The normal work hours in Romania is 40 per week.
