Over 1.76 million Facebook accounts are registered in Bucharest, according to data from local social network monitoring services Facebrands.ro and Facebrands Pro, quoted by Agerpres. This accounts for 19% of the total 9.6 million national Facebook accounts.

Cluj-Napoca is the second city in the country by the number of Facebook accounts, at 300,000 accounts which stand for 3.24% of the total. It is followed by Iasi and Timisoara with 290,000 accounts each, Constanta with 202,990 accounts and Craiova with 200,810 accounts.

Other Romanian cities with over 100,000 Facebook accounts are Brasov, Galati, Ploiesti, Oradea, Arad, Bacau, Sibiu, Pitesti and Braila.

Of the total Facebook accounts registered in the country, 9.2 million have a stated residence city. A total of 1.80 million accounts are registered in Transylvania, 1.65 million in Muntenia and 1.24 million in Moldova.

Overall, the number of Facebook accounts grew in the country 15.66% compared to the beginning of 2016.

Most Facebook users in Romania, almost 27%, are aged 25 to 34. Those 18 to 24 years old account for 21.47% of the total, while those aged 35 to 44 for 21.15%.

While the gender split is 50/50 between men and women, 68% of the Romanians on Facebook are married, 22.69% are single, 8.26% are in a relationship and 1% are engaged, the survey showed.
