Romanian Film Festival kicks off at several US universities

The sixth edition of the Romanian Film Festival, an event presenting local film production, takes place starting April 20 and until April 25 at Stanford, UC Berkeley, and San Francisco State University, with additional screenings at University of California Los Angeles and San Francisco Art Institute.

The theme of this year’s edition of the event is Dilemmas, Decisions, Destinies. The selection covers films focusing on history, humor and events that continue to shape the contemporary filmmaking landscape.

Among the films screened are Cristian Mungiu’s drama Graduation, Bogdan Mirica’s psychological thriller Dogs, Radu Jude’s (w)eastern Aferim, Adrian Sitaru’s The Fixer and Paul Negoescu’s low-budget comedy Two Lottery Tickets.

The public will get to meet director Bogdan Mirica, and actors Adrian Titieni and Silver Hugo, among other events included in the festival.

Admission to screenings is free. Films are screened in Romanian with English subtitles.
