Romanian filmmaker robbed on train to Italy, while traveling to serve as jury member for the Venice Film Festival
Romanian scriptwriter and filmmaker Razvan Radulescu (in picture) was recently robbed of all his belongings while traveling to serve as a jury member for the Venice Film Festival, according to festival director Alberto Barbera, quoted by Ansa.it. He was traveling on a high speed TGV train from France.
Moreover, according to Barbera, the Romanian filmmaker is no longer part of the festival's jury. He was supposed to be part of the Opera Prima jury headed by Saudi filmmaker Haifaa Al Mansour, which is now composed of six members, instead of seven.
The 70th Venice International Film Festival, organized by La Biennale di Venezia, runs on Venice Lido from August 28 to September 7, 2013.
Razvan Radulescu was born in Bucharest in 1969. He wrote scripts for films such as Stuff and Dough and The Death of Mr. Lazarescu, directed by Romanian Cristi Puiu, and Paper Will Be Blue, Boogie and Tuesday After Christmas, directed by Cristian Mungiu. Together with Calin Peter Netzer, Razvan Radulescu wrote the script for Child’s Pose, the film which won the Berlinale grand prix earlier this year.
He was also script consultant for 4 Months 3 Weeks and 2 Days, directed by Cristian Mungiu, and for the documentary The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceausescu. In 2009, he directed his first feature, First of All, Felicia.
