Romanian GDP grows for fourth quarter in a row
Romania's gross domestic product grew for the fourth quarter in a row between July and September this year, when it was 1.9 percent higher quarter-on-quarter, according to the country's Statistics Institute.
The GDP grew by 4.4 percent compared to the third quarter of 2010. The nine-month growth in GDP was of 2.7 percent compared to the same period of 2010.
Romanian president Traian Basescu has recently said he was hoping for a 2.5 percent GDP growth for the last quarter of this year, which would allow Romania to record an overall yearly growth of 2 percent. This was above the number mentioned by Jeffrey Franks, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Romania, who estimated a 1.5 percent growth for this year.
