Romanian Government sends more school buses for local authorities

23 September 2014

Romania will pay some EUR 23.7 million to buy 751 school buses for local authorities, and the Government has already allotted the money for the purchase, most of which come from funds resulting from the sale of carbon dioxide certificates.

This is the third time this year the Government offers such buses to local authorities. The first batch of buses is already being distributed across Romania, the second, some 651 buses, is being produced, and paid for, and the third contract, for the 751 buses, is in the making, said vice-president Liviu Dragnea.

Some local media and political analysts argue that delivering school buses is in fact part of the presidential elections campaign.
