Romanian hotels welcome more local and foreign tourists
The number of arrivals in Romania’s touristic units reached almost 948,000 in June, up by 17.3% compared to the same month last year. The foreign tourists accounted for a quarter of them, according to the National Institute of Statistics.
Most of the foreign tourists came from Europe (73.2%), and 87.6% of these were from the European Union. Only 1.7% of the foreign tourists went to the seaside resorts, whereas 0.8% went to the Danube Delta. Most of them stayed in Bucharest and in bigger cities (73.2%).
Overnight stays amounted to over 2.3 million in June 2015, up 15.3% compared to June 2014.
The total number of tourists registered in the first half of the year was just over 4 million, up by 14.5% compared to the same period of 2014. The number of foreign tourists went up by 16%, to 975,000.
