Romanian IBF boxing champion Lucian Bute loses title to Carl Froch by KO

27 May 2012

Romanian boxing champion  Lucian Bute lost his IBF middleweight boxing title last night (May 26 )  to British Carl Froch after he was knocked-out in the fifth round. This is the first defeat for Bute in his career. Up until last night, Bute managed to defend his title nine times, but some argued that he hadn't met the best boxers in the world at his weight category.

Carl Froch, 34 years old, is the runner up of the Super Six boxing tournament which he lost to Andre Ward. Froch boxed last night in front of a home crowd of 9,000 in Nottingham. Bute was cheered by about 1,000 Romanians who attended the game.

The first to rounds were balanced with Froch attacking from the start and Bute calmly defending himself and throwing some well placed punches, but the balance broke in the third round when Froch intensified his game and managed to break Bute's defence almost sending him to the ground. It was all downhill for Bute from there. The fourth round was again dominated by Froch. In the fifth round Bute couldn't carry it anymore and was knocked out.

Lucian Bute, 32 years old, will probably meet Froch in a rematch later this year. After the game last night, he said he can come back, like many other great champions did.
