Romanian investors put EUR 3 million in leisure complex

10 July 2015

Local businessmen Marius and Emil Cristescu have invested EUR 3 million in the Arsenal Park leisure complex in Orastie, south-western Transylvania. They built a 9 km bike lane, a PowerFan device for free jumps from 30 meters high and a 570 meters zip line.

The investments are part of a EUR 6 million project to expand the recreational park, reports local Wall-street.ro. The leisure complex already has an adventure park with six different tracks, a skate park, a synthetic ice rink and a riding center. It also includes a playground, which can host over 300 children.

The complex will have an Aqua Park by the end of the year, following a EUR 2 million investment.

The two investors expect over 1,000 visitors per day, once the project is completed. This year the maximum number of daily visitors reached 500, said Marius Cristescu.

Arsenal Park started as a military-themed adventure park which offered visitors the possibility to take shooting and archery lessons, military drills, and to travel in military vehicles. It also hosts a military vehicle museum. Arsenal Park also has accommodation for tourists.

The Cristescu brothers are two of Romania’s richest. They also control the Faur industrial park in Bucharest, which hosts about 200 companies, and many other businesses.
