Romanian Labor Ministry wants minimum wage increase in 2012

The Romanian Labor Ministry has given indications that the minimum guaranteed gross salary is set  to increase to RON 700 (around EUR 161) in 2012, from RON 670 (EUR 154) at present, according to a government draft decision posted recently on the institution’s web-based public debate forum.

The increase applies to a full working program of 169.3 hours per month in 2012, representing RON 4.13 per hour (about EUR 1 per hour), according to the draft. Employers who do not meet the new demands will be liable to a RON 2,000 (EUR 460) fine.

The draft for establishing the minimum guaranteed gross salary payment will be up for public debate until December 17.
