Romanian Labour Ministry: Sex education should be taught in schools

27 November 2015

Local and central authorities need to organize sex education programs in schools, said labor minister Claudia-Ana Costea.

She mentioned the statistics of the World Health Organization which show that, in Romania, over half of the sexually active young people who have a stable partner don’t use contraceptives, reports local Mediafax.

“A quarter of the teenagers aged between 14 and 17 say that they are sexually active, and the average age for starting the sex life is 15 and a half, according to World Health Organization statistics,” the Minister added.

Authorities also need to promote a healthy lifestyle, both in terms of diet and exercise.
