Romanian leu falls against the euro
The euro gained 0.6% on the Romanian leu (RON) in the last two trading sessions and the official exchange rate went above RON 4.46/EUR for the first time in the past four months.
The local currency’s evolution was opposite to those of other currencies in the region, which shows that the political scandal that broke on Friday – the Romanian Prime Minister investigated for corruption - has affected the market, reports local Economica.net.
The US dollar also gained 2.5% on the RON compared to Thursday’s official rate, but this move also reflected the international evolutions of the EUR/USD exchange rate.
