The new iPhone 5,  the latest version of Apple's hugely successful smartphone,  is most likely to be launched in Romania on October 19, by telecom operator Cosmote, according to Ziarul Financiar, quoting sources on the market. The new iPhone will be sold unlocked and usable with other networks, as with previous models.

The iPhone 5 was launched in the US, France, Germany, UK and several other countries on September 21, after being announced on September 12. In the first three days after its launch, the company sold over five million of its new iPhone 5s. The model topped two million pre-orders before its launch.

The new iPhone brings a new design, a 4-inch Retina display, bigger than the previous model, and an A6 chip, which makes it faster than the previous model, as well as including new Siri voice command features. The iPhone 5 is 18 percent thinner and 20 percent lighter than iPhone 4S, the previous model, according to Apple. The new model sells from USD 199 in the US.

In Romania the iPhone 4S was launched at the same time by all mobile operators last year, and Apple products enthusiasts await a similar move this year.
