Romanian Metrorex to increase metro ticket prices in November

Metrorex, the metro network operator in Bucharest, is to increase ticket and subscription prices this month.

A card with two trips will cost RON 5, up 25 percent from the current price of RON 4, while a card with 10 trips will cost RON 20, compared to RON 15, according to the company.

The price of a monthly travel subscription with unlimited number of trips will increase from RON 60 to RON 75, while a daily subscription will cost RON 8 instead of RON 6.

“The new tariffs will be applied during November 2013, three days after the normative document of approval will be published in the Official Gazette,” reads a statement of the company.

Metrorex also states that the current price of a ride with the Bucharest subway is of around EUR 0.45, compared to Budapest or Rome, where the price is EUR 1 per trip, Paris - EUR 1.7, Vienna and Madrid - EUR 2, or Berlin - EUR 2.1.
