Agriculture Minister Daniel Constantin said that the VAT rate on food cannot be reduced below 15% until December 31, 2015, reports local Mediafax.

Social Democrat Party (PSD) senator Ovidiu Dontu recently asked the Agriculture Minister about the possibility to reduce VAT on green products. Daniel Constantin however answered that no European state has applied this measure, following analyzes made for the bread, meat and meat products sectors.

"The studies that have been conducted so far reveal the difficulty to apply differentiated measures to implement of VAT reduction, and to establish methods of application," said the Agriculture Minister.
