Romanian monastery abbot reports EUR 76,000 stolen from his room
The abbot of Pasarea Monastery near Bucharest filed a complaint with the Police saying that unknown persons had stolen RON 344,000 (over EUR 76,000) from his room, Police sources told local News.ro.
The incident occurred a month ago, on October 29, while abbot Costel Slabu was at the religious service. The thieves also took a leather bag from the room.
The abbot told the investigators that part of the money was under his mattress and the rest was in a drawer of his nightstand.
The investigators haven't mentioned where the money came from and what it was for.
The Ilfov Police already questioned some suspects in this case. They also questioned the abbot, but for now they are only investigating the theft, not the source of money.
