It snowed for the first time this year in Romania over this week-end, and the layer of snow reached half a meter in the Bucegi mountains. It snowed all night starting Saturday evening and mountain guides have warned there is a risk for avalanche in the superior part of valleys.

It continues to snow in the Bucegi mountains. The counties Brasov and Prahova are covered by snow and traffic has been slowed down on the DN1 road from Ploiesti to Brasov, as many cars did not have their winter tires on. It is mandatory for drivers in Romania to equip their cars with winter tires from November 1. In Predeal, the layer of snow has reached 10 centimeters.

It also snowed in the higher areas of Harghita. Temperatures will continue to be low in the next couple of days in Romania. It currently rains in Bucharest and in most regions of Romania.
