Romanian movies to be released in cinemas in 2011
Romanian cinema was under the spotlight at several international competitions in 2010 and all eyes are on young Romanian directors who have announced new movies for this year. Let's take a look at the most awaited Romanian movies of 2011.
Aurora by Cristi Puiu. The film was initially scheduled to be released in the autumn of 2010, but its release was delayed for 2011. The film had its worldwide premiere last year at Cannes. In Romania, it was already screened at Transylvania Film Festival.
The three- hour movie features director Cristi Puiu, who also plays the main character, a man who commits three murders. The film will be released in cinemas in February. Watch the trailer below. Read a review of the film here.
Periferic by Bogdan George Apetri. The movie was also expected to be released in 2010. It follows the out and abouts of a young woman who leaves prison for her mother's funeral but who intends to recover her baby and leave the country. Watch trailer below.
Buna, ce faci? (Hello, how are you? ) by Alexandru Maftei- a romantic comedy, a Romania – Spain – Italy co-production. Watch trailer below.
Tatal fantoma (The phantom father) by Lucian Georgescu, featuring Marcel Iures as leading male actor. The film features an American teacher who takes a sabbatical year to return to Europe and finds its roots. Watch trailer below.
