Romanian music: Je suis lejer by Shift

18 March 2013

With most Romanian artists choosing to sing in English, a song whose title and main lyrics are in French, combined with some Romanian, got our attention. The song is called 'Lejer', which means 'light' in Romanian (The French word léger has a similar pronunciation and meaning to the Romanian), and the artist is called Shift – again a foreign word, this time English.

The main line of the song is 'Je suis lejer' and the lyrics speak about freedom. The sound has been heard before, but it's almost reggae like rhythm is catchy.

Listen to the song and watch the video below.

The 29-year old musician, by his real name Gabriel, was born in Galati and started his musical career in 1998. The stage name Shift came in 2010, when the first version of his solo album and his first three music videos were finalized.
