Romanian Netopia mobilPay records 1 million online card transactions in first six months, average payment value goes up
Romania got the hang of paying bills online or via their mobile phones. Netopia mobilPay, a company which processes micropayments via mobile phones, recorded over 1 million online card transactions in the first half of the year in Romania. The average value of a transaction also doubled during this period, from RON 90 to RON 160 (the equivalent of some EUR 36 ).
The number of online card transactions brokered by the company in the first half of the year was 15 percent higher than during the same period in 2012. “We processed transactions which exceeded EUR 7,000 on an IT and electronics website, as well as payments of over EUR 3,500 for plane tickets, which proves, once again, that no matter the value of the purchase, the online payment are as safe,” said Antonio Eram, CEO and founder of Netopia mobilPay.
Last year, 1.5 million Romania made online payments, and there were 6 million transactions, Out of these, Netopia processed 1.9 million transactions, which was an increase of 35 percent on 2011.
