Romanian online newspaper Gandul recently launched a Facebook app contest allowing users to vote yes or no in the referendum to impeach the country's president Traian Basescu and have a chance to win an iPad.

The Facebook app contest will run until July 29, the referendum day, and will only be available to those who become fans of the Gandul Facebook page.

The app mimics the voting ballot, asking whether the voter agrees with impeaching the president or not, the individual's vote then becomes public to the voter's network of friends on Facebook.

Romania's suspended president Traian Basescu is currently on campaign, trying to win back the presidential seat. In order for the referendum to be valid, 50 percent plus one of the registered voters need to attend, otherwise, the referendum will be invalidated and Basescu will reclaim the country's presidency.
