Romanian painter Tudor Scripor teaches glass painting at Trinity Cathedral in Phoenix, US
Romanian artist Tudor Paul Scripor will return after six years to the Trinity Cathedral in Pheonix, United States, in March 2012 for another exhibition of modern saints and traditional icon glass painting, that will include of a collection of modern saints: Martin Luther King Jr., Oscar Romero, Gandhi and Joan of Arc. The exhibition will be held at the Onley gallery, within the Trinity Cathedral in Phoenix, Arizona.
Scripor, 32, will hold the two receptions for this exhibition at the Cathedral on March 2 from 06:00 to 21:30 and March 6 from 06:00 to 21:30. During his month long stay in Phoenix, the artist will also conduct two full-day after workshops: reverse glass painting and egg tempera and fresco style techniques. Both workshops will be held in Atwood Hall at Trinity Cathedral. The cost is USD 40 per workshop and includes materials.
Using ink, egg tempera and gold and silver leaf, Tudor Scripor builds his icon portraits in layers of symbols, pattern and color. The smooth surface of the glass gives each painting a jewel-like luminescence.
Tudor Paul Scripor is a Romanian icon painter, born in 1979 in Cluj-Napoca, Cluj County in the northwestern part of Romania. He studied theology and iconography at the Babes-Bolyai University at the Greek-Catholic Faculty of Theology in his hometown and he is certified in Monumental Painting. More about him here.
