Romanian PM gathers local business people in advisory council

Romanian Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu, who has recently appointed 28 local business people as advisers, has asked them for proposals to combat tax evasion, attract more EU funds and increase exports, among others.

“The Council is the best beacon sent to the private economic area, but at the same time a proposal for partnership and a request for civic involvement. The main objective is to create close ties between the Government's economic policies and the economic environment,” said the Romanian PM. The Council, which gathered for the first time on Tuesday (April 3 ) is coordinated by Răsvan Radu , executive president of lender UniCredit Tiriac Bank and includes the following investors and business people:

Horia Ciorcilă, president of lender Banca Transilvania,

Sorin Mindrutescu, general manager of Oracle Romania and recently elected head of AmCham

Dan Şucu, owner of furniture producer Mobexpert,

Dragoş Pavăl, owner of do-it-yourself retailer Dedeman,

Radu Timiş, the founder of cold cuts producer CrisTim,

Raul Ciurtin, president of Albalact,

Alexandrina Gatej, AmCham

Gabriel Comănescu, owner of Grup Servicii Petroliere,

Florin Talpeş, founder of software company Softwin,

Gabriel Biriş, tax consultant and partner with law firm Biriş Goran,

Mariana Gheorghe, CEO of Petrom,

Constantin Stroe, vice-president of car maker Dacia,

Mihai Rohan, president of Carpatcement,

Cristian Colţeanu, the head of General Electric Romania,

Dragoş Damian, CEO of Terapia Rambaxy,

Andrei Caramitru, the head of Head of Eastern European Telecom, Media and Technology Practice at McKinsey & Company,

Ionel Blanculescu, the former president of the Authority for State Assets Recovery (AVAS) will act as secretary of this Council.

"Around this table I don't see the businesses you represent, but mostly your business experience. I know about the risks that any list of participants involves, and many of the egos are understandable and we all accept them. Longer or shorter lists never do justice for all, and I hope that we will be able to reply to questions such as << Why him and not me? >> by showing that this Council is open to everyone and good solutions can come form outside it,” said Ungureanu upon the mist meeting of the Council.
