Romanian PM: VAT down to 9% for all-inclusive tourism packages
The VAT will go down from 24% to 9% for the all-inclusive tourism packages, said Prime Minister Victor Ponta, following talks with experts from the International Monetary Fund and the European Commission.
"We managed to resolve an important issue, although with a reduced budget impact, namely to decrease the VAT for the all-inclusive tourism packages from 24 to 9%, because it was a competition issue of the tourism sector in Romania," said Ponta, cited by local Mediafax.
The related budgetary impact amounts to EUR 22 million and is taken into account in the draft budget for next year, the Prime Minister added.
