Romanian PM’s statements about ‘great union’ by 2018 stir Russian anger
Recent statements made by Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta about Romania’s union with the Republic of Moldova have triggered an official reaction from Russia, whose officials deemed the statements irresponsible and unacceptable. Russian officials demanded an official reaction to the statements from the EU.
Ponta, who is also a presidential candidate, recently said, when meeting fellow party members of the Social Democrat Party PSD, that ‘a second great union’ should be done until 2018, when Romania will celebrate 100 years since the great union. Russia is now awaiting both the Republic of Moldova and the EU to react to this statement.
