Romanian Police receives Lotus Evora S car to chase speedsters

10 August 2011

The Romanian Police has recently received a Lotus Evora S car for missions which require traffic surveillance and raid intervention. The car, given by carmaker Lotus, through local Forza Rossa, will be used by the Police in the next two years. The car's market price is of EUR 76,000. It can reach a speed of 280 km per hour.

This came soon after the Romanian media has released footage of a car chase on the Sun Highway, filmed by one of the drivers, with the recorded speed exceeding 250 km per hour. With the existing equipment, it would have been hard for the Romanian Police to catch the speeding cars.

The Lotus representative in Romania, Forza Rossa, has received five orders for the Evora and Exige models in March, a week after the launch of the first showroom dedicated to the British brand in Romania, according to the company.

Ion Bazac, shareholder and president of Forza Rossa said at the showroom opening near Otopeni that he expected to sell at least 24 units by the end of the year. Currently, the importer has in stock three models: Elise, Exige, and Evora, with prices ranging between EUR 40,000 and EUR 80,000. Forza Rossa is the exclusive representative of the Lotus brand in Romania, Serbia, Montenegro and The Republic of Moldova.
