Romanian president Basescu and World Bank VP Le Houerou discuss reforms
Romanian President Traian Basescu has met the World Bank's Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Philippe Le Houerou (in picture, left), who paid a visit to Bucharest, and discussed ways for the World Bank to support Romania in the current economic context.
The meeting at the Cotroceni presidential Palace took place on the occasion of the joint revision by the World Bank and the Romanian Government of the Country Partnership Strategy of Romania on 2009-2013.
The Romanian President has mentioned the need of increasing competitiveness, of reforming state-run companies, the public administration, the health care system and the social security system, along with the increase in the absorption of European funds.
