Romania should have a new set of legislation on elections, voting abroad and party financing by the end of the current parliamentary session, said President Klaus Iohannis.

He could mediate sensitive issues, where the lack of dialogue has led to deadlock, the President added. Such a theme is the cyber security, the so-called ‘Big Brother’ law, he said.

The President will present the National Defense Strategy during this parliamentary session.

He also talked about the Parliament's response to demands from the justice system.

"The discussions with the political parties gave me the firm belief that we can quickly reach a legislative solution to accelerate and simplify procedures for the detention, arrest or search requests of MPs. Beyond the practical aspect, it will be a signal of public commitment and political will in relation to the justice's independence and support in the fight against corruption," he said, cited by local Hotnews.ro.
