Romanian president publishes recording of meeting with PM and FinMin
In a first of a kind move, the Romanian president has publicized the recording of the discussion between president Traian Basescu and Prime Minister Victor Ponta, together with Finance Minister Ioana Petrescu.
A new quarrel has been taking shape between the President and the PM, who met Basescu on Monday, July 14, to discuss about the reduction in the Social Security CAS.
After the meeting, however, the PM said it was ‘not a serious meeting’ and that the President was rude to the Finance Minister.
The President published the full 26-minute video recording of the meeting on his Facebook account (Alaturi de presedintele nostru - Standing by our president), saying he has done so to 'see who is lying'.
During the heated talks, the President asked Finance Minister Ioana Petrescu what university she graduated, Oxford or Harvard, and said that he expected her answers to be more Roubini-like, referring to the famous Harvard graduate Nouriel Roubini.
