In the recent meeting between the Prince Charles, on a private visit to Romania, and Romanian president Traian Basescu, the president greeted his British guest mentioning the Prince's properties in Romania. “Welcome to Romania again. I understand you bought another house,” said the Romanian president. When the Prince of Wales denied having bought a new property, the Romanian president continued: “Not now, but you will have an entire village soon,” according to Romanian media.

The heir to the British crown, Charles, Prince of Wales, is known for the properties he bought and renovated in Romania's Transylvania region, and which are now being used as guest houses.

The Prince of Wales has had a busy time since arriving on May 30, spending the lion's share of his time in Transylvania, where he has long enjoyed walking trips in the beautiful mountainous region of Romania. In Bucharest, he also met Prime Minister Victor Ponta and other Government officials during a visit to the recently opened Museum of Art Collections.

During his stay the Prince visited Archita, a small town in Mures County, where the Prince’s foundation in Romania will move its office. There he met with the leader of the local county council to discuss the audit and cataloging of local traditions, as well as with health professionals to talk about setting up a local clinic in the area, according to Mediafax.

In the village of Valea Zălanului, Prince Charles met up with the local authorities of Covasna County, with whom he talked about, among other things, the development of the area and its regional products.

On Thursday, May 30, the Prince arrived by a private charter flight to Targu Mures airport, where the airport manager and representatives of the British Embassy to Romania greeted him. He then went to Micloşoara in Covasna county, to the residence of Count Kalnoky Tibor, where he usually spends time when in Romania.

The village of Viscri, where the prince also owns several guest houses, was also included in the visit schedule.

Prince Charles is a supporter of Romania and has recently appeared in a documentary called Wild Carpathia. During the interview, the Prince of Wales spoke of his great interest in Transylvania.

The Prince, who has been visiting Romania regularly since 1997, started buying properties in rural Romania, restoring them and turning them into guesthouses. The property at Viscri is one of the best known.
