Romanian President to meet all political party leaders for defense budget consultations
Consultations between the Romanian President Klaus Iohannis and leaders of parliamentary political parties will take place on Monday, January 12, at Cotroceni Palace in Bucharest, the presidential headquarters.
The talks will start at 10:00, and will focus on a political agreement in order to ensure, in 2017, a minimum threshold of 2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the Defense department, reports local Mediafax.
“One of my mandate’s priorities in the following period is to find ways to increase the Defense budget. I will initiate consultations with all parliamentary parties to conclude a political agreement in order to ensure, in 2017, a minimum threshold of 2% of the GDP for the Defense,” said Iohannis this week. He added that he will propose all political side to assume this objective.
