11 February 2012

Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu, accompanied by Defense Minister Gabriel Oprea and the Administration and Internal Affairs Minister Gabriel Berca, arrived on Saturday morning in Dumbraveni, Vrancea county, one of the villages seriously affected by snow, and went on to visit other villages in the country. At the meeting, which was also attended by the media, Ungureanu  said that people in Dumbraveni and other villages that are in the same situation will get the help they need.

"I asked the prefects of the counties that have no problems right now and are not in a delicate situation like Vrancea and Buzau counties to help those in need. Also, help will come from the Ministry of Development and Ministry of Defence.”, said PM Ungureanu.

Minister of Administration and Internal Affairs Gabriel Berca sent firefighters troops from Bacau in Vrancea County, and from Prahova County to Buzau.

Approximately 40,000 people are isolated in over 50 villages in Vrancea County, many living without food, water and medicines.

In Buzau County, about 23,000 people in 20 localities are isolated, the most affected being Glodeanu Silistea, Scutelnic Vadu Pasii and Sageata, where the  snow layer was high as five meters.
