Romanian private healthcare leader aims to pass the EUR 100 mln threshold

08 October 2015

MedLife, the leader of the private healthcare services market in Romania, posted a turnover of EUR 67.8 million in the first nine months of the year, up by 16% compared to the same period of last year. The company increased its business by 25% in the third quarter of the year.

The operator will exceed a turnover of EUR 100 million this year, if it manages to complete the acquisitions that it has initiated, said Mihai Marcu, MedLife chairman, who is also one of the company’s biggest shareholders. The company is currently working on six smaller acquisitions that may bring an additional EUR 10 million to its turnover. It is also in talks for an acquisition of over EUR 10 million, which should help it put more distance to its nearest competitors.

MedLife had more patients between January and September this year, due to the growing trust in the private healthcare sector. The company recorded over 1.5 million unique retail clients, who paid a fee for services. MedLife also had 430,000 subscribers, namely a market share of 50% in the corporate sector nationwide.

The company has opened five new units this year, compared to three units last year.
