Romanian producer Rulmenti Barlad plans USD 5 million Indian factory

09 April 2012

Romanian rolling contact bearing producer Rulmenti Barlad, owned by Turkish group Kombassan, will build a factory in India, following a USD 5 million investment. The local producer, one of the largest rolling contact bearing producers in Romania, has already bought the land in India, and plans to spend some USD 14 million in the coming three years, to take advantage of the Indian economic boom.

The factory in India should be ready in 2013.

Rulmenti Barlad already owns two factories in Hungary and Turkey and expects a EUR 260 million turnover from all operations this year. Romania brought the company a turnover of USD 100 million last year, half of its total turnover. Local production is equally exported to Europe, Asia and America.

Other investments are planned for the group's existing factories. The factory in Romania, at Barlad, will get USD 18 million in investments in the next three years, while the ones in Turkey and Hungary, USD 12 million and USD 8 million respectively. New factories are planned, to take the total to 10 by 2023, and a consolidated turnover of USD 1 billion.

Kombassan, which took over the Romanian firm in 2000, has invested around USD 120 million locally so far.
